A Bar A Ranch
Along the banks of the North Platte River, in the heart of southern Wyoming’s Medicine Bow Mountains, lies the A Bar A Ranch. Established in 1922, it is one of the oldest guest ranches in the country. It is also one of the largest, with nearly 100,000 acres for guests and staff to explore.
This is a magical place, where generations of families and friends create summer memories together. We invite you to share in this extraordinary experience.
Yours from Wyoming,
Lissa and Justin Howe, Ranch Managers
The A Bar A Ranch is a premier Wyoming guest ranch located on the North Platte River. The ranch features unforgettable horseback riding, fly-fishing, hiking, and other activities for the entire family.
A Long-Standing Tradition
The A Bar A has been continuously operated as a guest and cattle ranch since the early 1920s, and generations of guests make it their Western “home away from home.” Historic cabins and lodges create a feeling of simplicity and comfort. Long traditions, like the Friday night dinner ride, are always highlights of a stay at the A Bar A.
100+ Miles of Private Trails
Open spaces await riders and hikers, with hundreds of miles of trails to explore. Terrain varies from grassy meadows to riverside paths to rugged mountain ridges. Riders of all experience levels can immerse themselves in the landscape and riding opportunities at the A Bar A.

Fully “un-plugged”, our children’s program combines energetic counselors, educational and fun activities, and the Big Outdoors to create memorable outdoor experiences for kids. From adventure hikes to fishing, riding, archery, swimming, and more, families have options for kid-focused activities as well as family togetherness.
